instagram won't let you tag products. we fix the account mess behind it.

Your shop on Facebook and Instagram belongs to whoever set it up. When that person leaves, or it was built on a personal login years ago, the tag button disappears and nobody can get it back. We untangle the ownership, rebuild the shop on an account you control, and hand you the keys.

sound familiar

three ways this shows up.

the tag products button is gone

Posts and reels used to let you tag what you sell. Now the option is missing, or it says the shop is not eligible.

the person who set it up is gone

An employee, a contractor, a cousin who was good with computers. The shop still works, but nobody can get into it.

meta says you do not have permission

You own the business, but Business Manager treats you as a guest. Every setting you need is one role above yours.

why it happens

meta has no transfer button.

Everything that makes a shop work on Facebook and Instagram lives inside a Business Portfolio, and a portfolio is controlled by a person's Facebook login, not by your company. Whoever clicked "create" years ago is the owner, even if they have not worked with you since.

Shopify's channel can only connect to a portfolio you have full access to. If the shop is stranded in someone else's, the connect screen offers you the wrong account and there is no fix inside Shopify. The fix is on the Meta side, and it has to be done in the right order or the old shop keeps getting in the way.

six things that have to be yours

  5. 05the ad account
  6. 06the shop itself

what we do

five steps, one morning of your time.

01

ownership audit

We map every Meta asset tied to your brand and who actually controls each one. Usually the answer surprises people.

02

reclaim or rebuild

If the right person can be given full access, we move things. If not, we deactivate the stranded shop and build a clean one on a portfolio you own.

03

connect the store

Shopify's Facebook and Instagram channel, a fresh catalog, a pixel you control, an ad account in your name, checkout on your site.

04

tiktok shop

Optional add-on. Seller Center application, business verification, identity check, store handle, and the Shopify TikTok channel.

05

handoff sheet

One page with every asset, its ID, who owns it, and how to add the next person without ever handing over a password.

case study · HALO Waterfowl

136,000 followers and no way to sell to them.

HALO Waterfowl is a Carrollton, Georgia hunting brand with a big Instagram following and a Shopify store. The shop behind that Instagram had been built on the personal Facebook account of someone who no longer worked with the brand. The pixel, the catalog and the shop record all lived in his portfolio. Product tagging had quietly stopped, and the family running the store could not get it back.

From July to November we worked through recovering the Instagram login, getting the owner's daughter full access on the brand's own portfolio, and more verification codes than anyone wants to count. Once the access was right, the rebuild took one morning: deactivate the stranded shop, disconnect the old catalog, rebuild on Halo's own account with a new catalog, a new pixel and a new ad account, and submit for review.

Meta quotes up to four weeks for review. Halo's shop was approved the next day. Product tagging is live on @halowaterfowl again.

questions

what people ask first.

Can Meta just transfer the shop to me?

No. There is no transfer button. Assets live inside a Business Portfolio, and a portfolio is controlled by whoever has full access to it. If that person is gone, the practical fix is a rebuild on a portfolio you control.

Will we lose our followers or our page?

No. The Page and the Instagram account stay exactly as they are. What gets rebuilt is the shop layer behind them: catalog, pixel, ad account and the shop record.

Do we need Shopify?

It is the cleanest path, because the channel keeps your products, prices and inventory in sync and checkout happens on your site. We can work with other platforms, but Shopify is what we recommend and what the Halo rebuild used.

How long does it take?

The rebuild itself is a morning once the right person has full access. Getting that access is the slow part and depends on who still has logins. Meta quotes up to four weeks for shop review. Halo's came back the next day.

What do you need from me?

The owner's Facebook login on a phone we can text codes to, admin on the Shopify store, and a list of everyone who ever touched the accounts. We never ask for passwords.

tell us who set up your shop.

That one answer tells us most of what we need. We will map what you have, say plainly whether it can be reclaimed or has to be rebuilt, and quote the job before anyone touches a setting.
